Former Rivers Assembly Speaker Slumps While Exercising

A former speaker of the Rivers state house
of assembly and currently the member
representing Degema constituency in the
state assembly, Tonye Harry, reportedly
slumped on Wednesday while exercising.



According to report, efforts are being made
to fly him abroad for medical attention even
though he has reportedly stabilised. The Rivers state Commissioner for health,
Dr Sampson Parkar said, “efforts are being
made to fly Tonye Harry to France”. Governor, Rotimi Amaechi of the state, was
by Harry’s bedside up until the early hours
of Thursday. Mr. Harry served as Deputy Speaker of the
Rivers State House of Assembly during the
eight years rule of former governor, Peter
Odili, as well as four years under Amaechi’s
administration.
