Customs uncovers new smuggling routes in Lagos state

The Area Controller of the Nigerian Customs,
Western Marine Command; Zakka Audu,
weekend, disclosed that it had discovered
Kese, a coastal community in Badagry Local
Government Area of Lagos State, as one of the
routes to smuggle goods into Ogun State. Audu said that the Command had seized goods
worth N12 million in the area within two days of
intense operation. He further divulged that over 1,225 cartons of
frozen poultry products and 55 bags of rice
were seized during its first operation on
November 9. “The duty paid value of the seized poultry
products was N7.9 million, while rice was N614,
000,” he explained. He said that during its second operation on
November 10, 200 cartons of frozen poultry
products and 200 bags of rice valued at N1.3
million and N2.2 million respectively were
equally seized.
