Ailing Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai of Taraba State on Sunday arrived to a tumultuous reception in Jalingo, the state capital as the plane in which he travelled in from Abuja, marked 5N-12Y, landed at the Jalingo Airport at about 3:40p.m.
This is amid reports that Suntai’s triumphant return was marred by alleged side-lining of his deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, who had been in acting capacity since the unfortunate air mishap of October 15 that led to the governor’s long medical treatment abroad.
Upon his arrival, Suntai was helped off the chartered private jet by his wife, Hauwa and some aides, who ushered him into a waiting unregistered Range Rover Sports HSC that drove him straight to Government House, Jalingo.
Also on the governor’s entourage were his supporters including Minister of State for the Niger Delta, Arc. Darius Ishaku, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha representing Taraba south in the Senate, Damian Dodo SAN, and John Dara.
Gov. Suntai, who looked weak and exhausted, waved at the large crowd along the road as his car drove off amid chants of “Ya dawo”, meaning he has arrived.
