According to reports in the Turkish media
Manchester United full back Alexander Buttner
is days away from signing for Besiktas. Buttner
has found it difficult to hold down a regular
spot in the first team since arriving last
summer and with the return of Fabio he has been deemed to be surplus to requirements at
the club. TRT Spor have reported that a deal has already been agreed with Manchester United officials
to take the left back on a season loan. The
Turkish club will pay the Premier League
champions €1m to secure his services for a
year and will make also make a €15k regular
contribution to his salary based on when he plays for Besiktas. There still are discussions
to take place to tie up any lose ends regarding
the deal but it looking more like Buttner will be
moving to Turkey next week, as long as the
defender agrees to the transfer. Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf broke the story early this month that Besiktas were interested
in signing Buttner. De Telegraaf said that
Buttner is keen to get back into the national
team set-up and can't see that happening
unless he gets regular football. With the World
Cup being hosted next year in Brazil the player will be hoping to force his way back into
Holland manager Louis van Gaal’s plans. Since Buttner arrived from Vitesse in summer
2012 he has only played in 13 games for the
first team including just 5 Premier League
appearances. Last season he was unable to
force his way past Patrice Evra for the left back
spot and now has competition from Fabio who was out on loan at QPR. With Manchester
United also looking to bring in Leighton Baines
from Everton it looks very unlikely Buttner is in
David Moyes' plans and therefore needs to
move on to find first team football.
