President GoodLuck Jonathan on Tuesday condoled with the Emir of Hadejia in Jigawa, Alhaji Adamu Abubarkar, over the death of 11 members of his palace guards in an auto crash.
The president’s message was delivered by Gov. Sule Lamido of Jigawa, who paid a condolence visit to the emir in Hadejia.
Jonathan described the death as a great loss not only to the Hadejia Emirate Council but the entire nation. The president said his memory was fresh with the beautiful ceremonies and warm reception accorded him during his visit to the area in 2012.
The president prayed to God to give the emir fortitude to bear the loss.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the remains of the deceased were buried on Tuesday after prayers attended by thousands of people, including the Emirs of Dutse and Gumel, Alhaji Nuhu Sanusi and Alhaji Ahmed Sani, respectively.
It would be recalled that 14 persons, including 11 royal guards of the Hadejia council, died in a ghastly motor accident on Kano-Ringim road on Monday. The guards were travelling to Kano when their bus was involved in a head-on collision with an oil tanker. (NAN)
