iOS 7 causing motion sickness

A number of users of iOS 7 are reporting that the new mobile operating system is causing motion sickness.

Apple's new operating system for iPhone and iPad has been out for just over a week now, but some users are reporting issues with iOS 7's flashy animations.

Over on the official Apple Support Communities forum, one Apple customer has started a thread with claims that "the zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache. It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car."

A number of users have chimed in with similar stories, with the forum thread currently stretching to eight pages.

The issue appears to be with the animations when quitting an entering apps, which swiftly zoom in on the app icon from the home screen. Another problematic animation is the parallax effect, whereby the background moves according to the orientation of the iOS device.

It appears as if Apple was aware of the potential discomfort its flashy new OS could cause, as it has included a "Reduce Motion" option in the iOS 7 settings menu. However, this only removes the aforementioned parallax effect, and doesn't deal with the quick zoom animations that are apparently causing discomfort.

The only solution for the minority of users affected by iOS 7's swishy effects, it seems, is to roll back to iOS 6.
