Enyimba’s FA Cup victory a mark of good things to come to Abia – Orji

Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia on
Wednesday said that he was extremely excited
that Enyimba FC of Aba won the 2013 edition of
the FA Cup. Orji, who spoke with newsmen at the Government
House, Umuahia, on arrival from Abuja, added
that Enyimba’s victory was a mark of more good
things to come to Abia. The governor, who led the state’s officials to
watch the final of the competition played at the
Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Sept. 15,
described the match as a very tough one.

Wolves at the Federation Cup final yesterday. in
Lagos . Enyimba came back twice in the final to force
Warri Wolves to a 2-2 draw, after which Enyimba
defeated Wolves 5-4 on penalty kicks. “I was tensed up when Enyimba was down, but
my confidence was that Enyimba will surely win
the game and that really happened at the end of
the match,’’ he said. Orji said he would continue to support Enyimba
FC, to ensure that the club was able to excel both
nationally and internationally. He also said that his administration would equally
support other clubs, like Abia Warriors FC that was
recently promoted to the Globacom premier
league. “We will continue supporting Enyimba, Abia
Warriors and other clubs financially and morally,
within the limits of our capacity,’’ he said. With the victory, Enyimba FC will represent Nigeria
in the CAF Confederation Cup, while the runners-
up, Warri Wolves, will play in the WAFU Cup. (NAN)
