United striker nearing exit

Federico Macheda was spotted at the Doncaster match

According to English media outlet The Mirror, Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is
nearing an exit from Old Trafford. The Italian
striker has been frozen out of United’s first team
after an unimpressive past few years, which have
included unsuccessful loan spells to Sampdora
and Queens Park Rangers, and is reportedly closing in on a loan move to Championship side
Doncaster. Macheda was spotted at Doncaster’s most recent
league match against Huddersfield over the
weekend as the Rovers only managed to muster a
0-0 draw. The club currently sit in 18th place in
the Championship, just a point out of the
relegation zone, and have only scored five league goals this season. The addition of Macheda would
give them a strong and powerful striker with
Premier League experience following the Italian’s
exploits with the Red Devils, and at 22 years of
age Macheda could still improve significantly. The Italian spent last season on loan with German
side Stuttgart, but failed to find the back of the
net in 14 league appearances for the club. He has
scored four Premier League goals in his young
career, including one of the most pivotal goals
during United’s 2008/09 title run. The Italian came off the bench to score the winner for the
Red Devils in his Premier League debut, helping
United to the title. While the transfer window is officially closed,
Macheda is still able to join Doncaster on a loan
move.
