Three policemen dismissed over alleged killing of Pastor’s son

The Nigerian Police Force has
dismissed three policemen for killing a pastor’s
son in Gwoza, the headquarters of Gwoza Local
Government Area of Borno State. State Commissioner of Police Mr. Lawal Tanko,
disclosed this, yesterday, in an interview with
journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital. He said: “In line with the Inspector General of
Police’s transformation agenda and zero tolerance
for indiscipline and corruption, they should face
the consequence of their action”. The CP stated that the dismissal of the officers
was to serve as deterrent to others, adding that
they had already been charged to court. It could be recalled that the boy was allegedly
killed by the police when he beat their dog. They
arrested him and allegedly beat him to death. The commissioner said he was seeking the
cooperation of journalists in all efforts to restore
peace in the state, stressing that both police and
journalists were working for the good of the
society. Tanko said that his doors were openned and
called on journalists to always confirm any
information before going to press.
