Eleven Boko Haram Suspects Arrested, Four Killed in Adamawa

Defence Headquarters

The Commanding Officer of Mubi Special Operation Battalion, Lt. Col. Beyidi Martins, at the weekend, confirmed that about 11 Boko Haram suspects have been arrested in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State. In a phone chat with THISDAY, Beyidi confirmed that the suspects were arrested on Saturday by men of his battalion and the Joint Task Force (JTF) from Maiduguri in Borno State with the assistance of the Civilian JTF operatives. The commander also disclosed that six of the suspects were taken to Maiduguri by the JTF, while five were brought to Mubi. He claimed that four of the five suspects brought to Mubi were mistreated by members of the Civilian JTF operatives because of their attempt to resist arrest, thereby leading to the death of two of them on Saturday. Beyidi said two others later died yesterday due to the severe injuries they sustained from mistreatment of the Civilian JTF while trying to resist arrest. According to him, only one of the suspects was alive and he was undergoing interrogation from the Army. He called on the public to remain calm. "The Army is on top of the situation. Two others died on Sunday of injuries. We now have one still alive and is being interrogated," he said.
