Drunken soldier kills 3

A drunk soldier (names withheld)
attached to a Brigadier in Ogoja, Cross River State,
last Sunday, killed three persons and shattered his
own legs, when he drove his Honda Accord car
recklessly. Sources said the military man took his girlfriend
(names withheld) to Okuku, the town close to
brigade for the Yala new festival celebration and
allegedly got drunk. He decided to return to the barracks located a
kilometre away against the advice of his host. A source said: “He was drunk and we advised him
to allow someone drive the car to the barracks but
he refused. “It was while he was speeding back that he hit an
Okada (commercial motorcycle) and the car ran
into a tree, killing the two boys on the Okada and
his girlfriend.” The woman, a mother of two, was said to have
lost her husband, a soldier, to the Boko Haram
violence in Maidu-guri, Borno State. in 2010. Her younger brother said she was the one
sustaining the family. He said: “We don’t know what to do, because we
feed from the profit she made from selling
drinks.”
