Court Sentences 4 Men To Death For Gang R*pe And Murder Of Student

The four Indian men who attacked and defiled
a 23 year old student on a Delhi bus on
December 16th 2012, have been sentenced to
death by hanging.



Indian court ruled today Friday September
13th that the men deserved to die for the
vicious attack which left the victim with such
severe internal injuries she died two weeks
later. The victim and her boyfriend had been
returning from a movie date when they
encountered the defilers inside one of India’s
many private buses. The driver of the bus and four friends had
taken the bus out into the night, looking for
s*x. Unfortunately the victim and her boyfriend
got into the bus not knowing what would
happen next. According to court documents, the men
attacked the couple, beating them before
taking the woman to the back of the bus and
defiling her one by one, then penetrating her
body with iron rods. She died at a hospital in
Singapore several days later. The bus driver, Ram Singh, committed suicide
in his jail cell in March. The judge said in court
today that they are hoping the sentence will
serve as a ‘strong deterrent’ to others in a
country where crimes against women,
especially r*pe, is on the rise.

18-year-old Suspected defiler, One Other Remanded In Prison

Two men were yesterday remanded in prison
custody by an Ibadan Chief Magistrate’s court
in Oyo State, for allegedly having unlawful s*x
with a girl. The two accused persons, 24-year-old Ariyo
Fawemi, and Adetoro Ademola, 18, were
arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy
and r*pe. According to the prosecutor, Inspector Ade
Adebusuyi, Fawemi and Ademola and two
others now at large conspired to commit the
crime. Adebusuyi said the accused persons also had
unlawful carnal knowledge of one Biola, 17, in
a crime committed on July 31, around 8pm, at
Apata area of Ibadan. Adebusuyi said the offence contravened
sections 357 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap
38, Vol.11, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. The accused persons pleaded not guilty when
the charge sheet was read to them. While adjourning the case to September 11
for mention, Chief Magistrate Olusola
Adetujoye ordered that the accused persons
be remanded in prison custody pending the
receipt of legal advice from the Office of the
Director of Public Prosecution.
