Meet Miss Polo Minna 2013

Dirisu Joy Bemigho, the current Miss Polo Minna, a 300 level student of Geology at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state. She is also privileged to be the chief executive officer of Epitome events management, a company that specializes in event planning, ushering , branding and delivery of souvenirs.

She emerged Miss Polo Minna 2013/2014 in a beauty pageant that held on the 7th day of June 2013 organized by Polo sport modeling agency as part of the activities to mark the Minna Polo tournament. She was considered for the crown ahead of 15 other contestants on grounds of beauty, intelligence, charisma, boldness and composure.

She wasn't into the modeling and she didn't really prepare much for the competition. It was something she went into for fun actually and never expected to win.

Other awards that have been bestowed on her over the last couple of years include “The most influential female student, FUT MINNA”2013 and a recognition award of Excellence from the college of education Minna among others.

Aside being a beauty queen, she is a philanthropist who has a burning desire to educate students in senior secondary schools in minna about the importance of devoting time and dedication to their studies and also helping less privilege children.

She came up with a campaign which has already gotten underway called “HOPE ALIVE PROJECT”.

The Hope Alive Project entails Charity visitation and Sensitization campaign.

The campaign has already kicked off with a visit to the Government Secondary School Minna.

She put in her personal resources and she also sent letters of support to individuals who could help. Minna Polo club members and executives also supported her.

Accident along Paiko Lapai road in Minna.

Photo: According to what we have just heard, 8 people were killed in a petrol tanker accident along paiko lapai road in Minna. The fully loaded fuel tanker had a leak which allowed its fuel to spill on the highway. The two salon cars that followed the tanker went into inferno when their fenders brushed the gallopy road, the friction caused sparks that ignited the already fuel-soaked road. Both cars exploded and everybody in the cars died on the spot. We heard rumours that an FUT Minna student was also one of the victims but we pray its not true. May their souls rest in peace. Please comment Amin
