Ramadan doesn’t stop killing—Alhaji Shittma
Yerima President, Arewa Youth Consultative
Forum (AYCF) The whole things buoys down to politics as far
as I am concerned and what is happening is that
they are playing over the sensibilities of
Nigerians. So, it is high time we as a people be
vigilant, remain focused and insist that the
right thing must be done. Those in powers, it is obvious that they lack the
political will to address these issues.

A common man in Nigeria has become the
scapegoat to this so called insurgency because
somebody wants to make a point. And I made a
recent analysis and looked at the 29 students
that were killed. What point does somebody want to make by
killing innocent lives of Nigerians. Students
who were harmless, totally harmless, the
future of Nigeria; now for whatever reason, I
can’t imagine someone going in to kill those
innocent souls. That is on one side. On the second side,
whether it is because of Ramadan or not,
because me, I see it as an indictment on Isman
because there is no where Islamically where
they said you should kill anyone whether it is
Ramadan or no Ramadan. You can’t take the life of an innocent person. It is unislamic. There is no way anybody can say because it is
Ramadan and for that reason we are not going
to commit any crime and we want to be polite,
we want forgiveness, that is an insult on our
people. So, to me, there is more to it. It is high
time; we began to think of what to do to protect ourselves as a people. We cannot trust anybody on either side,
whether on the side of the so called Boko
Haram or the side of Government. It is high
time; we began to think of alternatives for
Nigeria. Military Operations in North I am not an expert security wise, but with
commonsense, I do not know what security
pattern was that for them to switch off
communication where people will cry for help
and the phone will not be useful for them to
call any intervention or any other means for rescue because the operation that was
conducted in Yobe State was not done with five
minutes. It took an hour for them to shoot them, maim
and burn the place. It took some hours and the
Security that has declared the state of
emergency couldn’t do anything. Some thing is
wrong somewhere. To me, even the security votes we that are
being given to the security must be checked
properly because if this money continues to
get into the hands of government, no one will
know that the protection of life and property
will be taken serious because the moment there is no killing, these money will not be
coming. So, for that reason people will continue
to die. Enough is enough. FG is contradicting itself —Alhaji Balarabe
Musa Actually, we are not wining any of the many
wars in country including insurgence,
economic, political, etc we are not wining any
of them. The Federal Government has banned
Boko Haram yet it is taking to Boko Haram.
This is a contradiction. This is what has been happing since the while. But in spite of the contradiction, the only thing
people hope to see is success towards peace
which doesn’t seem to be the case now. The
killing continues. Unfortunately we have not
gone to the root of the problem. Right from
the beginning, people said it is emergency rule that is needed because emergency rule will
only aggravate the matter. The only thing is to tighten the security and go
into the root of the matter. The root of the
matter is first of all dealing with this nasty
unemployment. Secondly, wining the
confidence of Nigerians who will help the
government either identify the insurgents.
