Fenerbahce Banned From the Europa League.

Turkish club Fenerbahce has been expelled
from the Europa League and barred from
qualifying for next season’s Champions
League.

Fenerbahce Supporters Would Miss Cheering
European Competitions This Season. They lost the UEFA Champions League
group stage qualification two-legged play-
off matches by a 5-0 aggregate to Arsenal
and were due to enter the Europa League
after Tuesday’s return leg at the Emirates
Stadium. Fener were handed a two-year ban from
partaking in European competitions in June
over match-fixing allegations but were
reinstated while an appeal was heard. The Court of Arbitration for Sports (Cas) has
confirmed that it has dismissed the
Istanbul-based club’s appeal against the
two-year competition ban imposed by UEFA. UEFA judged that the club officials helped
fix matches to win the 2011 Turkish League
title. This will be the second time Fenerbahce are
missing out on European competition after
they were withdrawn from the 2011/12
Champions League by the Turkish Football
Federation pending investigation for match-
fixing. In July 2012, ninety-three people- including
club officials, coaches and players- were
charged in a civil trial which centered on the
club’s league-winning run of 2011.
