Nigeria remain 35th in Fifa ranking



The Super Eagles have dropped to the fifth
position in Africa despite retaining their spot in
in the global ranking Nigeria’s senior national team has remained
unmoved in the latest Fifa world ranking
released on Thursday. In June, the African Champions were rated as
the 31 best football playing team in the world before making a downward slide to 35 in the
July ranking. This stagnant position however, was not good
enough as they slipped to fifth place in Africa
with the Desert Foxes of Algeria taking up their
previous fourth position. Meanwhile Cote d’Ivoire remain at the summit
of African football with 962 points which put
them in the 18 position in the world while Ghana is 24 in the world and second in Africa. Mali took the third spot on the continent after
amassing 735 points which places them in the
32 spot in the world. The surprise package on the log is Cape Verde
who moved up to the 36 place in the world and sixth in Africa with four points behind
Nigeria. Spain, Germany and Colombia hold the first,
second and third spots in the world
respectively as Fifa Confederations Cup
champions Brazil are ninth in the world.
