Nigeria has faulted the timing of United Nations (UN) intervention in the Peacekeeping efforts in Mali, since ECOWAS troops and African-led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA) has done the job already; restored peace, stabilised the country and conducted elections.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim made this assertion Thursday when the African Union (AU) Assessment Team to ECOWAS Commission on the level of preparedness towards the AU Standby Force (ASF) led by Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari, visited the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.
