English Premier League Starts Tomorrow

Any thoughts or predictions for the new
Premier League season?
It's hard to look beyond Man United for
the title again. I don't know that they
strengthened their first eleven over the
summer but they added young depth in defence and on the wings and they
proved last year that they can overcome
a slightly weak central midfield.
I'd like to tip City to take the title this
year (anyone but United please) but I'm
not sure they have the same killer instinct as Ferguson's men. With all the
attacking talent they have - Aguero,
Tevez, Balotelli, Dzeko, Silva, Adam
Johnson (can we have him at
Liverpool??) etc it's a shame Roberto
Mancini doesn't set the team up with an attacking mentality more often. They
should still run United close though.
I think Chelsea will come in third. I do
think Andre Villas Boas will prove to be a
great manager but it may take him a
couple of years to mold the team in his fashion. I like the signing of Romelu
Lukaka - he probably won't play much
this year but he'll be great in the future.
These three seem to be a step above
the rest right now but it should be a
good three way battle for fourth place between Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.
Arsenal seem to be in turmoil with
Fabregas and Nasri looking to be on the
verge of leaving the club and although
there is time to sign replacements
before the transfer window closes, Wenger (or the board) doesn't seem
inclined to bring out the check book.
They have a tough start to the season
too with games against United and
Liverpool as well as the Champions
League qualifier against Udinese. Spurs will be a dangerous team again.
They didn't sign the new striker that
their fans were looking for (though they
have a habit of adding players right
before the transfer deadline) but the
team has great depth in defense and midfield, especially if they keep hold of
Luka Modric.
Liverpool spent a lot of money in the
summer, mainly buying/overpaying for
younger British players. Downing, Adam
and Enrique may not be world class stars but they do improve the team (I'm
not sure about Jordan Henderson).
They'll probably be very reliant on Luis
Suarez, so hopefully he'll stay fit for the
whole season. I'll be a homer and pick
them for fourth place. 1 Man United
2 Man City
3 Chelsea
4 Liverpool
5 Spurs
6 Arsenal
