Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Compliance, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai , at the weekend,  said the registration of All Progressives Congress (APC) would herald the much-desired change that would produce a new Nigeria.

Likewise, a federal lawmaker and former Lagos State Head of Service, Hon. Yakubu Balogun,  described the party’s registration as a new dawn in the country’s politics, which, according to him,  is being awaited by millions of  Nigerians in the last three decades.
The lawmakers spoke at the people’s assemblies held in their constituencies and organised separately to give their constituents in Oshodi-Isolo I and Lagos Island Federal Constituencies updates about their activities in the National Assembly.
Akinderu-Fatai, who is representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for being truly independent, non-partisan and unbiased.
He therefore urged the leadership of the electoral commission to properly review its plans and strategies ahead of the 2015 general elections in order to prevent the country’s political hawks from massive rigging and electoral frauds at any scale.
On his part, Balogun, currently representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency, noted that the advent of the APC would also create a veritable platform for the people to make a better choice in the country’s future elections.
The lawmaker dismissed insinuations from some quarters that the party was formed to just hijack power from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noting that the formation of a mega party was to provide alternative platform for the electorate to make the right choice in future elections in Nigeria.
He explained that the country was in need of a stronger political party, which he said, would adequately meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people which the PDP had failed to do since the return of civil rule in 1999.
He expressed optimism that the APC would have no challenges in the selection of candidates for election since the leaders of the merging parties have agreed to drop their personal ambitions in the overall benefit of the country.
While Akinderu-Fatai said the party was established by true progressives with passion to make notable difference in Nigeria, Balogun strongly urged his countrymen both at home and abroad to teem-up with the APC and its leadership at all levels in the task of rebuilding the country for a better future.
