5 die in Katsina auto crash

No fewer than five persons lost their lives and six others seriously injured in an auto crash in Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State, Sunday.
Katsina State Sector Commander of the Federal Road safety Commission, FRSC, Alhaji Habu Dauda,  who confirmed the incident, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaita, yesterday, that the tragedy occurred at about 2.30p.m. near Tashar Jawara village.
He said the accident occurred when a commercial Volkswagen Passat car with number plate BTM 349 AA, collided with a Mitsibushi pick-up vehicle with number plate KATSINA  XC 797 KTN.
He said the driver of the Passat car tried to avoid a pothole, as a result of which it collided head-on with the pick-up van from opposite direction, causing the death of five persons and injury of six others.
According to him, the injured persons are now receiving attention at the GeneralHospital, Katsina, while the deceased have been buried by their relations in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
He appealed to road users, to be extra-careful and obey traffic rules and regulations while driving
