Wenger continues to struggle in the transfer market

Vicente-Guaita
Arsenal’s misery in the transfer window has not been kept quiet, and this latest rumour is certainly not going to please anyone, with boss Arsene Wenger again failing in another summer bid.
The Mirror have reported that Arsenal have bid £6 million for Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita but have been rebuffed due to the fact that the bid is ‘absolutely insufficient’.
The Bid
Arsenal are famous for trying to get players well under valuation and they succeeded last season when they bought Santiago Cazorla from Malaga for around £12 million.
However, bidding £6 million for a player that is valued at £20 million is an insult.
The already poisonous atmosphere at Arsenal wasn’t helped when this news filtered through.
The North London club are actively searching for a goalkeeper and have other options including Kiko Casilla of Espanyol and Asmir Begovic of Stoke City.
Amadeo Salvo was evidently shocked at such a low bid
He is quoted by The Mirror to have said: “I am surprised by the proposition put forward. It is absolutely insufficient. I did not even consider it.”
Debacle
Arsenal’s summer has been nothing short of a debacle so far. Only the free signing, Yaya Sanogo has been brought in.
Fans have a right to be furious with the way Wenger has been dealing with transfers. Missing out on Gonzalo Higuain and it now seems like Luis Suarez won’t be making the move south.
The only positive to take away from the summer up to this point is the fact that Arsenal have managed to get rid of most of the ‘deadwood’ clearing an awful lot of money off the wage bill.
However, this can only be seen as a positive if they use this extra money to provide any incoming targets with a sufficient wage packet. Which has sometimes been the undoing in some transfers in the past.
