UNILORIN VC Calls For Payment Of SIWES Allowances

The University of Ilorin has called on the
Industrial Training Fund ITF to help pay the
outstanding allowances owed its students
during the period of their Student Industrial
Working Experience SIWES. The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor
Abdulganiyu Ambali made the call when
members of Ilorin Area office of ITF paid him a
courtesy call in his office. The Vice Chancellor who was represented by
the Deputy vice chancellor Research
Technology and Innovation RTI Professor Felix
Ayodele urged the ITF to also pay promptly the
allowances of the Students. While thanking the team for the Visit, the Vice
Chancellor said the University management
would look into the requests brought before
it.� He said the suggestions and advice will help
the University grow. Earlier the Area Manager of the Industrial
Training Fund ITF Mrs. Kayode Agunloye
appreciated the management of the University
for the opportunity. She said University of
Ilorin is one of the Key players of the
organization in Kwara State. She stated that the visit was to discuss with the
University management issues that relate to
functions and regulations of Student Industrial
Working Experience SIWES. The Area Manager said during her interaction
with the director of SIWES, she discovered that
the University has put in place some facilities
for the smooth running of the Unit while urging
the University to do more for maximum
efficiency of the Unit. Mrs. Agunloye called for the establishment of a
separate account for the SIWES Unit stating
that there is need for the University to make
the job of SIWES coordinator a career Job. She also called for the migration of the SIWES
programme to six months from the current
three months stating that when students go on
three months, they usually do not have the
opportunity to settle down and learn before the
time expires.
