Teacher found dead behind school; 14-year-old boy arrested

The body of Colleen Ritzer, 24, was found in a patch of woods behind Danvers High School late Tuesday. A 14-year-old boy became the suspect after he was reported missing and was charged when cops found him a few miles away.

A 14-year-old boy was cuffed for killing a 24-year-old teacher after her body was found behind a Massachusetts high school late Tuesday, authorities said.

Colleen Ritzer, a math teacher, was found dead in a patch of woods near Danvers High School after police were alerted that the woman had not returned home or was answering her cell phone, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said.

Investigators discovered traces of blood in a school bathroom and soon located her body.

Authorities did not disclose how Ritzer was killed.

The teenaged boy became a suspect after he was reported missing Tuesday night, officials said. He was arrested after cops found him a few miles away.

The boy — who was not identified because of his age — was expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a murder charge.
