‘Kwara APC may not participate in Saturday’s poll’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State
may not participate in the Saturday local
government election because of its bid to compel
the State Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) shift the
poll has not been heard in court. The suit started suffering a setback when the
assigned judge proceeded on an annual vacation
and new judge had only fixed next month to hear
the APC suit. The party is, however, yet to conduct congress,
elect officers and field any candidate for the
election as stated in the KWASIEC’s guidelines. A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
the state had also failed to secure court injunction
to restrain KWASIEC from conducting the local
government election because it could not serve its
rival faction, which is a co-respondent in the
matter, a court summon.
