Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum and governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu , has raised the   alarm over attempts to make sure that the North does not present a united front in the 2015 elections.
The governor who spoke at the inauguration  of the   Kaduna based Liberty FM station said the region may go extinct unless northerners understand their current predicament and work together to salvage the situation.
He said the North must go beyond rhetorics and mobilise its people to understand the predicaments they were in, otherwise they will be bought over by some people, who, according to him, were already amassing wealth for the campaigns.
The governor who said he had stopped making any public statement on the face off between the G7 governors and President Goodluck Jonathan following a cease fire agreement, however maintained that the struggle of the G7 governors was noble, stressing that the struggle is now for Nigerians.
“Today I will disappointment many of you having come from this part of the world (the North), where we honour and respect agreements and because of that, on September 15, the G7 governors and Mr. President agreed on a cease fire that no more public discussions of the problems that are at stake and I am not going to talk about them because I have to honour the agreement.
“We have to respect the office of Mr. President; we have to respect the President. But I must say that the struggle of the G7 governors is noble. We have opened the door; the struggle is now for Nigerians.
“We must go beyond rhetorics and mobilise our people to understand the predicaments that we (northerners) are in. We must go out to tell our people who are poor, who are waiting for any manna from heaven and waiting for people who have amassed wealth for the campaigns.  If we don’t mobilise our people, they will be bought over.
